Rio Tinto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mining Engineer to join our operations team. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our mining projects. The successful candidate will be involved in various aspects of mine planning, design, and operational management, contributing directly to the achievement of production targets and cost objectives. You will work within a dynamic environment, leveraging advanced engineering principles and technologies to optimize mining processes. Responsabilidades Clave

• Develop and implement short-term and medium-term mine plans to ensure safe and efficient extraction.
• Monitor and analyze operational performance data, identifying areas for improvement in productivity and cost-effectiveness.
• Design and optimize mine layouts, including haul road designs, pit slopes, and waste dumps, using relevant software.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols to maintain a zero-harm working environment.
• Collaborate with geological, metallurgical, and environmental teams to integrate engineering solutions across the value chain.
• Prepare technical reports, forecasts, and presentations for management and stakeholders.
• Supervise junior engineers and operational staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant mining regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.

Habilidades Requeridas

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Cualificaciones Preferidas

• Master's degree in Mining Engineering or an MBA.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• Experience with remote sensing and drone technology in mining.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Experience in a multinational mining company.
